I think this logo is brilliant for all the reasons that the Pajama tv guy listed, Taking the "Morning in America" approach of marketing himself, worked so well for Reagan. He stands for hope/change and his name is Obama...i think the logo designer did a fine job. If Obama was my client, i would surely advise him to do everything to maintain his brand, define yourself or the other side will do that for you.
